Group Captain Varun Singh has been the batchmate of Group Captain Abhinandan Varthaman. Abhinandan Varthaman had driven out Pakistani planes that entered India's border on 27 February 2019. Varun Singh is a resident of Khorma Kanholi village of Rudrapur tehsil of Deoria district of Uttar Pradesh. Due to being posted in DSSC, his entire family lives in Tamil Nadu.
